Thank you to 91ÉçÇø alumna Kathy Ankenbrand, Controller & Director of Accounting for ScrubDoc, a physician network, for talking to Jeanette Maier-Lytle’s Accounting 201 class. She talked about her time at 91ÉçÇø as a nontraditional student. The most valuable lessons she learned were the importance of building your network and getting involved on campus, especially in leadership roles. She was a member of one of Maier-Lytle’s IMA case study teams. She encouraged students to try out because on one hand, it’s an exciting travel opportunity, but on the other hand, it gets you out of your comfort zone. Early in her presentation she had students lift a hula hoop with one finger – the more students involved, the easier the task became. Her message: communication is important and you can’t do it alone.
