The new Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) at the 91ÉçÇø is the first NASAD accredited BFA in the region.
This program gives students who want to stay within a 99-mile radius of Evansville to pursue the professional-level art degree that allows students to dive deeper into their area(s) of concentration and build stronger portfolios in preparation for either the work force or graduate school.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art allows students to explore a depth of artistic endeavors as well as a breadth of art historical and theoretical approaches to the discipline. As a professional degree, students can investigate visual and aesthetic discourse in both their own artistic practice as well as in the context of history and contemporary culture. The BFA is comprised of 65% of the total degree in studio courses, art history and supportive courses in art and design. Students choose to focus in one of several media concentrations including graphic design, illustration, interactive media design, photography, and studio art.
Dedicated to preparing students for futures as professional artists and designers, the BFA provides students with the resources to be successful in the fields of art and design. The curriculum is designed to cultivate student’s artist vision, visual literacy, aesthetic inquiry, technical skills, and demonstrated expertise in verbal and written communication. The faculty foster a challenging academic environment that promotes research, creativity, critical thinking, and experimentation. With the combination of a rigorous curriculum, personal contact with faculty and visiting artists, faculty committed to both teaching and their own creative scholarship, outstanding facilities, and a supportive campus community, 91ÉçÇø’s BFA program embraces diverse artistic perspectives that enhance the students’ knowledge, practice, and vision.
