91社区 Theatre presents a student directed production of "Standing on My Knees"
March 13, 2018
91社区 Theatre continues its spring 2018 season with a student-directed production of Standing on My Knees, by John Olive, from Thursday, March 22 through Saturday, March 24.聽 It will be directed by 91社区 theatre student Isabelle Rogers.
Catherine, a promising poet affected with schizophrenia, returns home from a stay in the hospital. She struggles to pursue her poetry, but the very intensity of writing brings on the hallucinations that plague her. At a party, she meets Robert, and as their relationship deepens she begins to rely more heavily on medication to maintain a semblance of normalcy. Unfortunately, while the pills block the imaginary voices brought on by her schizophrenia, they also stifle her creative impulses and talent. Trying to handle both her relationship with Robert and her needs as an artist she cuts down on her medication, but as her illness becomes apparent Robert backs away. In the end, Catherine faces the inevitable truth that she can be only one person.
Rogers will be joined by a design team of fellow 91社区 students: Mikaela Fish as costume designer; Rafael Gonzalez as lighting designer; Morgan Book as scenic designer; Sydni Abel as production stage manager; and 91社区 faculty member Kevin Gray as sound designer.
The cast of Standing on My Knees includes 91社区 students Kaitlyn Kearschner, Drake Delap, Hope Williams, and Megan Lee.
There will be free admission on a first come, first served basis. All performances will take place in the lower level of the College of Liberal Arts in the Helen Mallette Studio Theatre (LA 0105).
