Mandatory Health Insurance

All international students (F-1 or J-1 visa holders and J-1 dependents) must have adequate health insurance while enrolled at the 91社区. The University health insurance program offers comprehensive coverage designed for international students, at an affordable cost and is renewable each term. Exchange students or other international students who only enroll for one semester can purchase coverage for that period of time. If you remain in the U.S. during the summer, whether or not you are enrolled in classes, health insurance is required. Estimated costs of 91社区鈥檚 health insurance program and minimum coverage requirements are subject to change.

Exchange programs funded through the US Department of State provide comprehensive health insurance for the duration of the student exchange, either through a third party provider or through our University insurance program. 听Participants of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) are required to enroll in the ISEP health insurance program in order to finalize their placement at 91社区.

Participants of a direct exchange program are required to enroll in 91社区 health insurance program in order to finalize enrollment at 91社区.

Finding a Doctor or Hospital in Your Network

There are two hospitals in Evansville: Ascension St. Vincent and Deaconess. It is important to check with your insurance provider to see which hospital and which doctors are in your network. If you go to a doctor who is not in your network, you may have to pay a substantial portion of the bill before your health insurance covers the remaining portion. Please email intlprog@usi.edu or call 812-465-1248 if you have any questions regarding health insurance.

If you have GeoBlue Insurance, you are in the Deaconess network. The health clinic on campus is part of Deaconess Hospital.

Visit the GeoBlue website to find a doctor or medical facility in your network.
