  • SophomoresÌýor Juniors. GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Science, Engineering, or Math Majors who intend to pursue graduate study (usually a PhD). Students who plan to study medicine are eligible only if they plan a research career rather than a career in practice.
  • Preference give to students with research experience.Ìý
  • Covers tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 a year. Sophomores eligible for a maximum of two years; Juniors for one.Ìý

  • Minimum GPA 3.3 or top 5% of class; All years.
  • For students from a disadvantaged background who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research.Ìý
  • Up to $20,000 per year, paid research at the NIH during the summer; paid employment and training at the NIH after graduation.Ìý

National Science Foundation Research Experience for UndergraduatesÌý- Summer Research

  • Search NSF's database for specific projects and research opportunities for summer research.
  • An REU Site consists of 10 or so undergraduates working in the research program of the host institution on a specific NSF-funded research project.Ìý
  • Award varies by site, but may include stipends, housing, and travel.Ìý

Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program

  • GPA of 3.2 or higher required; All Majors; All years, but first year students must have outstanding academics and significant international experience.Ìý
  • Attend six week summer program on international affairs at Howard University in Washington DC. Academic courses in political economy and history of US foreign relations, in addition to seminars and visits with key policymakers and practitioners of international affairs.Ìý
  • Applicants should express strong interest in international affairs and how this program will assist them in their interests.Ìý
  • Provides tuition, travel, room and board, as well as a $3,200 stipend.Ìý

The Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship

  • Must participate in summer internships at Department of Defense laboratories.Ìý

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher recommended; All Majors.Ìý
  • Juniors or Third-year Seniors at the time of selection.
  • For students with exceptional leadership potential who are committed to careers in government, nonprofit or advocacy sectors, education, or other elsewhere in public service.Ìý
  • Up to $30,000 funding for graduate degrees in public service fields; also assistance with career counseling, internships, graduate school admissions, and professional development. Truman Scholars participate in programs such as Truman Scholars Leadership Week and the Summer Institute in Washington, DC.Ìý
  • Scholars must work in public service for three of seven years following their graduate program.Ìý

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher recommended; All Majors.
  • Must be committed to completing a master's degree in public and/or international affairs at one of the PPIA Consortium graduate schools.Ìý
  • Seeking diverse students who are underrepresented in leadership positions in government, nonprofits, international organizations, and other institutional settings.Ìý
  • Full tuition to attend PPIA Junior Summer Institute, plus a minimum of $1,000 stipend; a minimum of $5,000 toward graduate school tuition.Ìý

  • GPA 3.7 or higher recommended; Seniors and Recent Grads; All Majors.
  • Pursue graduate study and research in any subject at the University of Cambridge.Ìý
  • Applicants should demonstrate academic excellence, a good fit between their interests and Cambridge, evidence of leadership potential, and a commitment to improving the lives of others.Ìý
  • Covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge, including travel and living expenses; Last for normal duration of academic degree program.Ìý

Marshall Scholarship

  • Seniors and Recent Grads; All Majors.
  • Study for 2 years at a UK institution in any field of study.Ìý
  • Students should have intellect and fine character, motivation, purpose, and the potential to make a significant contribution to their own society.Ìý
  • Covers two years University fees, living expenses, books, thesis grant, research and travel grants, and travel to/from the UK. Possibility of an additional year.Ìý

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships for Advanced Asian Language Study

  • Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree, be pursing a career that involves regular use of a modern East or Southeast Asian language, be at or near an advanced level in that language, be able to devote themselves exclusively to language study during the grant, and be a US citizen or permanent resident.Ìý

Fulbright US Student Program - Grants for Study or Teaching Abroad

  • Minimum GPA 3.4 recommended; Seniors or Recent Grads; All Majors.
  • Two main types of Fulbright grants:
    • Fulbright Academic Study Grant: Academic Year. Provides transportation, book and research allowance, living expenses for academic year, health insurance, tuition (in some cases), and language or orientation courses (where appropriate). Consult individual country pages for details.
