From Dr. Shefveland "Hi Everyone! I am a Professor in the History Department and an Assistant Dean in the College of Liberal Arts. I teach a wide variety of courses in the college on Native American and Indigenous History as well as Global Ethics. As part of my work within the Dean’s office I am theÌýco-director of the Community Collaboration and Reparative Justice Project for Southwest Indiana. When I’m not on campus or working on local history projects, I teach hot yoga at Yoga101 on Evansville’s east side and enjoy tinkering in my garden while reading fiction and history unrelated to research. I love folklore and creative writing and look forward to learning more about your interests and helping you create pathways in the liberal arts that can be a part of your lifelong journey as scholars and community members!"

From Dr. Rode "Greetings. My name is Dr. Rode, and this is my 18th year at 91ÉçÇø. I have served as Chair of World Language and Cultures, Graduate Director for the M.A. in Second Language Acquisition, Policy and Culture, and now am Assistant Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Director of the Center for Communal Studies, and Chair of the Historic New Harmony Board of Advisors. With New Harmony in our back yard, my research focuses on intentional communities and utopian studies. In addition, I have developed a certificate on Cultural Awareness Training, which is reflective of my international interests and teaching experiences at universities in China, Mexico and in Europe. I believe that a liberal arts education “'is not [the] learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks.' (Albert Einstein)."
